A few days ago, a senior manager with a PhD call me over the phone told me something that really stayed with me:
“I’m performing better than ever. But somehow, I feel less certain than ever. And maybe I have to change my Job.”
She wasn’t failing. She wasn’t stuck. She was successful — and quietly anxious.
In the age of AI, this is no longer an exception. It is becoming the emotional state of high performers.
When careers get uncertain, clarity must get deeper
AI accelerates change. Roles evolve. Titles expire faster than skills.
It is not because of you. It is because of the Company strategy to go with AI.
Yet many managers still go our careers without a strategy — reacting to opportunities, promotions, and disruptions as they come.
The real question is no longer:
“What job should I aim for next?”
It is:
“What is my Meaningful Career when everything keeps changing?”
Clarity of Purpose is a direction.
Purpose doesn’t mean quitting your job to “find yourself”.
Purpose is knowing:
- Who you are currently ultimately serving?
- Why your current work matters beyond your KPIs
- What kind of meaningful leader you want to become — regardless of role
Purpose gives direction and Passion gives energy, not certainty.
Perspective taking gives understanding the company, the upper management, the partners and most importantly the customers.
Creative Imaginativeness gives the different Scenarios for our directions
Self-awareness gives the Light for each Scenario
All Together, they shall help and keep you moving — even when the map keeps changing.
In the coming AI era, Career and Jobs Scenarios need Purpose, Perspective taking, Creative Imagination and Self-awareness instead of only on AI Skills.
AI can generate as many answers faster than any human. But it still cannot: Feel empathy, Imagine what should exist and Ask the uncomfortable, human question
Managers who thrive don’t try to outthink AI. We learn to Use AI and for Ourself, We think differently and more Human
We connect dots across disciplines. We ask better questions. We design, test, learn, and redesign — like entrepreneurs of our own careers.
We shall be more human, more empathy and are more value-creating.
We shall take AI to handle repetition jobs to make us free and we shall focus on:
- Judgment
- Decision-making
- Strategy
- Developing people
And We all know that Happiness is not the reward at the end
So as Managers, what should we do now?
Start small but start intentionally.
- Understand ourself more deeply than our job description
- Build relationships that last longer than any role
- Invest in skills that travel across industries
- Design our career — don’t outsource it to chance
- Build our Purpose, Passion, Performance under Deep Self-Awareness
In a world full of algorithms, AI and Robots, the most future-proof assets are still human:
Purpose. Empathy. Judgment. Creative Imagination. And Courage.
Our career is a long journey. Make it a meaningful one regardless of changes.
